I’m a snoozer. Mike’s alarm goes off and he jumps out of bed. Not me. Gotta hit it at least once. At 8am, I do. 9am Mike asks me if I’m getting up. Shit! I must have turned it off instead of hitting the snooze! Quick shower and I’m out the door for another unpaid audition. I get there as they’re opening the doors. Sweet. Today I’m talking to my boyfriend. Three lines. Don’t feel great about it.
When I get back, Mike and I take the car to the shop. It’s been making a funny noise ever since Arizona and we need an oil change anyway. Shock pads need to be fixed. $500. No thanks. At home, I clean the kitchen floor and try to think of anything else I can do so I don’t have to run. I know I should but I just don’t feel like it today. Then I remember we’re going to Tara’s tonight and we’ll be going in her hot tub. Go upstairs and try on a bathing suit. OK, how about that run??
Get to Tara’s around 6pm. Feel nauseous again going up those crazy, winding turns. Tara greets us at the door, beer in hand. We sit down with Rich at their enormous dining room table that looks like a tree trunk. Just bought their Christmas tree today. It stands naked in the corner, waiting to be decorated. We have a drink and snack on pistachios, chatting, until the pizza arrives. It’s always fun to hear about Tara’s job, working for George Clooney’s company and all. She talks about how nice of a guy he is – Troy and Mike have more of a crush on him than I do. After dinner we head out to the hot tub. It’s glorious. There’s some talk of high school and Tara and I go on a rant about crossfit. We both want to join but it’s not something I can afford right now. When you and Rich get married you can have a couple discount! Rich doesn’t seem too interested, but he doesn’t disagree with the idea. Back inside our conversation continues with movies. We’re all very passionate about them so it’s exciting conversation – well, for us.
We settle in to watch The Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Horrible title, but not a terrible movie. Tara made us a batch of these pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. Her mom’s recipe. Delicious. It’s a double feature tonight, so Midnight in Paris is next. I love this film, but have an early morning so I sneak off to bed in one of Tara’s guest rooms. Another great night at Rich and Tara’s.
